Healthy Steps for Older Adults is a nationally recognized community and evidence-based fall risk screening, assessment, and education program for adults aged 50 and older, and is designed to reduce the incidence of falls, improve overall health, and provide medical referrals and aging service resources.
We will be hosting this Class here at the Plum Community Center on Tuesday February 27 at 9am. Participants will receive a $10.00 gift card from Shop & Save. Refreshments will also be served!
Stroke Support Group
The Plum Community Center Stroke covers Plum Boro and Monroeville and works toward getting a stroke victem used to life as a stroke survivor.
Social activities, trips and keeping active are some of the best rehabilitation techniques. Jeff Pope is the coordinator for the group.
Group Meets
1st and 3rd Thursdays at Monroeville Senior Center
2nd and 4th Thursdays at Plum Community Center
Time 11:30am to 2:30pm

HomeMeds Medication Assurance, Partners in Care Foundation, is a
Consultation that addresses medication safety by identifying potential adverse
medication effects due to duplication of medications. Medication errors can be
serious, costly, common and preventable.
- If you have multiple doctors prescribing medications
- If you use more than one pharmacy to fill your prescriptions
- If you take over-the-counter vitamins, minerals, herbal supplements, homeopathic remedies, creams, gels or lotions
- If you take any over-the-counter remedies with medications prescribed by a physician
- Must be age 60 or older and live in Allegheny County to participate
Better Choices, Better Health
Program is a workshop given 2 and a half-hours, once a week, for six weeks.
The topics covered include techniques to deal with problems such as frustration, fatigue, pain and isolation, nutrition, appropriate use of medications, communication with family and friends, exercising as well. Discussion and interacting with others in the program is also a very important part of this program. Each participant will receive a resource guide and a $10.00 Shop & Save gift card.
